Holly Hunter, an American actor and producer, is known for her acclaimed performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano earned her an Oscar. At a young age, the accomplished actress began acting on stage in several Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. Acting has always been her love of life. In fifth grade, she portrayed Helen Keller in an original production. She became deaf in one ear due to Mumps, but she didn't allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actor. When she was in college studying drama and moving in New York City with her goals with her sights set. Hunter made her Broadway debut after a chance conversation with Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. As she settled in Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. She landed one as an actress supporting the main character in Swing Shift. Her work spans over 30 years and she's appeared in numerous TV shows as well as series and films. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
