Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny sleepy town. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't heard of it often think it is a separate island facing west. It is often cited as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an expert dancer. However, a growth spurt caused her to outgrow all of the dance partners she had. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed her height in heels as six feet and one inch tall. When I reached the height of my male counterparts, I stopped. Many dancers make the transition into acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her into this path. The teacher encouraged her to try out for roles in a school production. It was her choice to take on the main character of Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Her career spans twenty years, and she's been in over 60 productions, both on big screens and on smaller ones. Her most notable role was the one of Rita (pictured below) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of moments in the very first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the only Canadian actor.
